〈ROKNTV 한국뉴스티브이〉 채정희 편집국장 By Executive Editor CHAE JEONG-HUI = Following the deadline for applications for the Goyang 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, a record 784 athletes and 194 officials from 62 countries (Asia 20, Europe 21, the Americas 14, Africa 7, Oceania 1) are set to participate at the event.
Countries such as Belgium, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Denmark, France, Mexico, Niger, Saudi Arabia, Peru, and the USA will be represented at the event which will be held at the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) in Goyang City from 21 to 24 April. It is the largest number of participating countries since the inaugural edition of the event was held in 2006.
The opening ceremony on 21 April will feature media art, a creative and colourful LED light display and a performance from the World Taekwondo demonstration team.
This year’s World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships will be the first time the event has been held since the Taipei 2018 edition as the Herning 2020 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships were cancelled due to COVID-19.
